Waste Management

The legislation (Legislative Decree 3 April 2006 No. 152 - Part Four), inspired by the principles of accountability and cooperation of all stakeholders, invites to reduce the production of waste and to encourage recovery and recycling. In order to comply with the provisions of the law, all personnel working within the "Galileo Galilei" Department of Physics are invited to transfer the waste that can be assimilated to urban waste in the appropriate containers distributed along the corridors, reserving the offices' bins. only to the card.

The disposal of special waste, deriving from work activities or the disposal of inventoried goods, must always be previously agreed with the General Technical Services of the Department to which they must be assigned together with the Delivery Card. Attention is drawn to some special waste procedures:

· Non-inventoried waste such as: Chemicals, oils, processing waste, packaging, electric cables, activated carbons, components of equipment, etc. they can be disposed of by taking agreements with the General Technical Services, accompanied by the attached form;
· For waste generated by disposals of inventoried goods, each one must ask for the discharge of the assets to the administrative offices for which they are responsible and, pending the administrative process is completed, it will have to keep the asset, avoiding to deposit it in unsuitable places or leave it abandoned, especially along the corridors and escape routes.
Only if the material is very cumbersome (desks or cabinets, etc.) you can contact the General Technical Services for a temporary deposit in another place. Once the material has been disinvented, it can be disposed of, always agreeing first with the General Technical Services accompanied by the attached sheet. We remind everyone that the law prohibits in the most absolute way "the abandonment and uncontrolled deposit of waste on the ground and in the ground" as well as "the introduction of waste of any kind, in solid or liquid state, in surface and underground waters "(Article 192 of Legislative Decree 152/2006).
